The convention has been called by the Arizona legislature. Its responsibilities are to provide a venue and plan all activities prior to the election of a President of the convention. At that point the Convention controls its agenda.

Pursuant to HCR 2022, an Arizona Planning Committee has been formed. This committee will coordinate the activities in Arizona in preparation for the convention. The following website is provided by the planning committee: http://www.azleg.gov/bbapc/.

However, on a national basis, the Balanced Budget Amendment Task Force (BBATF) is assisting in communicating with legislative leaders on how to choose their state delegations and preparing the delegations for the convention.

The BBATF (www.bba4usa.org) is a collection of individuals and organizations which are leading the effort to secure the necessary thirty-four state resolutions to convene a convention to propose a balanced budget amendment.

State legislators wishing detailed information on the history of Article V and answers to common questions about this provision in America’s Constitution may wish to review the resources available at the Article V State Legislators’ Article V Caucus web site:  http://articlevcaucus.com/resources/
